Groom Your Intimate Areas!

Shaving intimate areas is increasingly popular for both men and women - but it’s important to know the best way to remove unwanted hair without nicks and irritation.

Shaving intimate areas is increasingly popular for both men and women - but it’s important to know the best way to remove unwanted hair without nicks and irritation.

Razors work best on shorter hair, so trim longer hair first. Hold the hair, pull it up away from the body, and snip with scissors. You can also use an electric trimmer - just not a rotary one!

If you’re new to intimate shaving, you can leave hair trimmed for a few days to get used to the feel.

Soften the hair by showering with hot water. It may seem unnecessary, but softened hair is much easier to shave. No time to shower? Place a warm, wet towel over the area for 5 minutes.

Shaving pros swear by exfoliating before and after shaving. Why? Exfoliation lifts hairs up and removes dead skin, making shaving smoother and faster - and reducing the chance of nicks. If you have time, we recommend it.

Prevent irritation!

Apply shaving foam before using a razor. Products formulated for pubic hair are ideal, but facial foam works too. Patch-test first - some people are sensitive to certain ingredients.

250929Even if it’s labeled for women, men can use it too. Women’s foams are typically gentler and often better here, while men’s face foams are usually fragranced - which can irritate intimate skin.

Use a fresh razor - the newer it is, the better the result. More blades usually mean a quicker, gentler shave.

If you reuse a razor, keep it just for intimate areas and clean and dry it after each use. Don’t leave it wet - water can rust the blades.

Stretch the skin! Loose skin increases the chance of cuts. Razors work best on flat surfaces, so use your free hand to pull the skin taut and hold it firmly. Start below the belly button, stretching the skin just above the area you’re shaving.

Shave slowly and gently!

Shaving with the grain helps avoid irritation and ingrowns; shaving against the grain removes hair more closely. If your skin is sensitive, go with the grain - even if it takes longer.

For a quick, nick-free, comfortable routine, try an electric trimmer. Most come with multiple guards to reach every spot, adjust length, and even create fun shapes.
If you only want to tidy the bikini line, choose a smaller, bikini-specific trimmer.
